  • Moral Crisis in Indonesia

Age of a country cannot guarantee its prosperity. For example India and Egypt, they were more than 2000 years old, yet until now they were still a developing country and most of its population is still relatively poor. While Singapore and New Zealand, the country’s age of less than 150 years in building themselves, yet they are now a highly developed country and its people are richer on average. Thus, why Indonesia remains a country that suffers with any crisis? The answer is depending on the mental and moral attitude of its citizen because human cannot only be measured by its brain or physic but their mental attitudes.

Moral crisis that occurred in our country can be seen from the loss of honesty. Corruption spread evenly in the territory of this country, from Aceh to Papua. Furthermore, moral crisis happened in many companies who loss the responsibility. They do not pay attention to circumstances surrounding environment and causing environmental damage everywhere. Moral crisis also can be seen from the neglecting of the environment around us without rehabilitation and the uncontrolled freedom of the press which began to encourage glorified commercialism and consumerism. The most jeopardizing thing is when the media has been “saddled” with the vision and mission for personal gain, then the role and function of journalism would have degraded the quality. To overcome the moral crisis the government must act decisively on the perpetrators of crimes, ranging from the visible, to which even disguised but the most important thing of all is that we are required to do the reform, especially reforming our mental, by upholding honesty, increasing self-responsibility, filtering the information circulating in the media, improving discipline and complying the regulations.

The conclusion is that the moral crisis is the core of all problems that exist in Indonesia. If this is left unchecked then it would threaten the future of the nation. Unfortunately, these moral issues are often marginalized from the agenda and plans from the future leaders.

  • UN4U Campaign, Wed 20-10-2010

United Nations for You (UN4U) Campaign was held at Aula Barat ITB, October 20 2010. General lecture was given by Prof. Hubert Gijzen, the Director of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization which known as UNESCO. He emphasized the role of Science Technology and Innovation for Sustainable Development in Asia and the Pacific.

There are three areas in science which had a great movement in the past which are industrial, medical and green revolution. In a word, along with the development of science, it gives excessively impact on the world.  Many of resolutions formed by countries but the big problem is the result of resolutions yesterday.

One of our weaknesses is do we think about the children?

Do we think about our grandchildren of our children?

Being creative, innovative with the capacity to think in a long term for present and the future is all we have to do to address this problem. If we cannot maintain our world then the next thing we know is our grandchildren cannot get any water for living, have no good sanitation or even cannot breathing. We are facing global change now which is more than global climate change. These are some problem which faced by developing countries: Food security, poverty, pollution, etc. Meanwhile these are faced by developed countries: New emerging diseases, energy, natural disasters, water environmental resources, mobility, climate change, etc. About 62 % human in this world have no access to water supply and 74% does not have a good sanitation which is most of them are live in Asia Pacific. 30% Natural forest has gone and yes Indonesia has a high contribute in loosing this natural forest.

We are consuming a lot of resources than the world can renew. That is why science technology and innovation really has an important role to this world. Every country should contribute at least 3 % of their activity in doing Research and Development (R&D). In this case, Japan has the highest expenditure in R&D which more than 3 % Global Development Program (GDP) and followed by US on the second place. Meanwhile Indonesia only contribute 0-0.5% of their activity to the R&D. The Politicians in Indonesia are disregarding it because they do not know the important role of this whole science development program, said Prof Hubert.

Science Development is urgently needed. We have to make science become a fun lesson, link it to Education Science Development (EDP) and easy to learn in anywhere. Thus, we can start from the quality harmonization of degrees and programs in all University all over the world.

  • 10-10-10 at 10.10 pm

banyak orang yang bilang, hari ini hari bagus.. ya cuma diliat dari tanggalnya sih.. emang orang Indonesia doyan bener sama nomor cantik. tak jarang untuk mendapatkan nomor cantik utk nomor ponsel, bbm, plat mobil/motor mostly (orang Indonesia) rela mengeluarkan koceknya berapapun…tp yang mau kita bahas bukan nomor cantiknya tapi apa isi dibalik hari ke 10 dibulan ke 10 tahun 2010 ini

flashback dulu sebentar.. a few years ago, tepatnya tanggal 9 bulan 9 tahun 1999 atau 9-9-99 jam 9 tersebar isu dunia kiamat..

sesuai dengan tahun kabisat ya pasar seni itb ini diadakan setiap 4 tahun sekali, otomatis penasaran kan tuh rakyat Bdg dan sekitarnya.. imagine.. a half of Bandung citizen were there it means macet total

yang ga tahan sih ngopling ngeremnya itu bos.. kalo mobil matic sih sujud syukur, nah ini manual, mana berat lagi koplingnya, ada tmn disebelah kaga bisa nyetir, yaudah nasib.. but i enjoy today after all even i got a serious headache..

terimakasih sudah mendengarkan keluh kesal saya, selamat tanggal 10-10-10 see you tanggal 20-10-2010 (cantik juga tuh) untuk pasar seni see ya in 4 years later (amin) :)

  • Difference between Marketing and Public Relations

Most people consider ‘marketing’ and ‘public relations’ to be the same. This is because the fine line separating these two terms is not very clear. While both are complementary forms of product/service promotion, there are a few differences between marketing and public relations. Difference between Marketing and Public Relations We all think we know the difference between marketing and public relations. But if we are asked the precise difference, we will be at a loss for words. This happens because these two terms have been used too often in each other’s place. It doesn’t help that both these departments are almost always clubbed in most companies. Also, these two activities are interconnected. Maintaining good relations with the public is a very important part of marketing. According to the American Marketing Association, marketing can be defined as “the activity, set of institutions, and processes for creating, communicating, delivering, and exchanging offerings that have value for customers, clients, partners, and society at large”. Thus, marketing is a combination of all the activities that help to increase the sale of products, that includes a combination of one or more things among direct marketing, advertising, branding, public relations and other promotional activities. Public relations (PR), on the other hand, is managing the flow of information between the company and the people, thus maintaining favorable relations between the two. Through public relations, the company can keep a tab on the pulse of the market and know the public opinion of its products. Public relations is also considered an investment for the future as a good PR campaign remains strongly embedded in the minds of the people for a longer time. Marketing vs Public Relations 1. The primary function of marketing is product awareness and promotions, while the primary function of public relations involves public perception of the company and brand. This is the main difference between marketing and public relations. One can say that, at times, the inferences gained from a PR campaign form the foundation for the marketing strategies. 2. In marketing, the products are promoted. In public relations, the company is promoted. A PR person promotes the name and image of the entire company while a marketer usually looks at how to promote one product or a product line. 3. Marketing involves selling the goods. Public relations involves selling the brand. A marketing activity is directed at making the products/services seem more appealing to people. PR activities involve making the company more appealing to people. 4. Marketers are trying to see how and at what price goods/services can be sold. PR persons try to gauge public perception and reactions to the product and its marketing strategies. A PR person senses the market for public reaction of previous marketing attempts and impact of the strategies on the public. A marketer can use this valuable information to reposition the product, or stick to the current plan, as required. 5. Marketing is trying to achieve profits. PR is trying to achieve positive reputation. The aim of marketing is to sell the products and achieve profits. PR is like an investment that a company makes for maintaining a positive image in the market, which the company will be able to cash in on in the future as well. 6. Marketing is a wider term which includes all the promotional activities that help boost sales, including public relations. Public relations activity is considered to be a part of the entire marketing strategy of a company. 7. Marketing is an older, more traditional concept of selling. PR is a relatively new concept which sells goods by creating a positive impression of the product among the people. The public relations concept is a new way to look at positive product positioning. 8. Marketing is quite a short-term activity. PR is a long-term activity that bears fruit over a longer period of time. The benefits of a PR program accrue and can be used over an extended period of time. Thus, we can see that there are many differences between marketing and public relations. But we can say that PR is a subset of marketing as it helps the marketing department of the company to decide its strategies.

  • Salah Pengertian tentang PR
